On the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Statehood of the Republic of Croatia, the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Albania hosted a reception in the Rogner Hotel Tirana in the evening hours on 21 June 2016. Ambassador Sanja Bujas-Juraga highlighted in her speech the circumstances of proclamation of Croatia’s statehood and independence, the sacrifices the Croatian people suffered for freedom and its desire to be part of the democratic world. The Ambassador also underlined the historic friendship between Croatia and Albania, the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries but also the necessity to additionally strengthen and develop cooperation in all fields.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania Mr Edi Rama extended his congratulations in a letter to Ambassador Sanja Bujas-Juraga, putting special emphasis on the friendly relations between Albania and Croatia and his wishes to see the bilateral cooperation intensify in all fields.
Amongst the invitees, there have been current and former Ministers, Ambassadors accredited to Albania including the EU Ambassador Ms Romana Vlahutin, other diplomats and representatives of international organisations in Tirana, distinguished members from the political, academic and cultural scene in Albania and various business people.
Croatian citizens attended the reception in large number, from experts engaged in EU projects providing technical assistance to Albania to business people and common Croats living and working in Albania. The main guest from Croatia attending the reception was Member of the Croatian Parliament Ms Ermina Lekaj Paskalj.
Authentic Croatian music was performed live by musicians from Dubrovnik.
