The Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Josip Leko paid an official visit to Albania on 29 April 2014. In the meetings with the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Ilir Meta, President Bujar Nishani and Prime Minister Edi Rama, both sides expressed great pleasure with the friendly relations and the constructive bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries. Mr Leko underlined the strong support of Croatian authorities to the Albanian EU integration process, and their conviction that Albania deserved the EU candidate status. He praised the serious approach of Albanian authorities towards reforming the society and offered political and technical assistance, as well as the vast experience of Croatian state institutions in the EU pre-accession processes.
