The Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Ditmir Bushati has officially visited Croatia on 21 March 2014. In the meeting with the Croatian First Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Mrs Vesna Pusic the main topics were further enhancement of the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries, developments with respect to relations in the region and regional cooperation, cooperation between Croatia and Albania in multilateral fields and the Albanian EU integration process. The two ministers signed an Agreement on European partnership “whereby the Croatian support to Albania was formalized”, as Minister Pusic put it while repeating the Croatian stance that Albania deserved the candidate status. She was hopeful of a positive EU Council decision in June.
Minister Pusic was also desirous of a more active presence of Croatia in Albania, particularly in projects of enhancement of democratic standards and the functionality of the state.
The ministers also talked about infrastructure and energy projects of mutual interest, particularly the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian highway, the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline and the Adriatic-Ionian Pipeline.
