Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic paid an official visit to Albania on 17 January 2014. In the meeting with the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama it was mutually concluded that the bilateral relations between the two countries were good, friendly and constructive, and that the cooperation continues to intensify. With respect to the Albanian EU accession process, Prime Minister Milanovic confirmed that Croatia is strongly supporting Albania. He particularly stressed the Croatian point of view that Albania deserves to be granted the candidate status, and expressed regret for some EU member states not having recognized that back in December 2013. Additionally, the two prime ministers talked about the strategic regional projects, related to infrastructure and energy sector, and the cooperation and the relations between the countries in the region. In the framework of the visit, an Agreement between the two governments on police cooperation was signed as well.
