For the third year running, Croatia had a national stand at London Book Fair, hosted by the Croatian Ministry of Culture, the Croatian writers Society and UK publisher Istros Books with the support of the Croatian Embassy and the British-Croatian Society. The program, which is part of creativeCroatia Festival included: launch by the Ambassador Dr. Ivan Grdešic of “Writing Croatia” – a presentation of books written in English, conversation with Bulgarian author Alek Popov, launch of Olja Savicevic’s English translation of “Farewell, Cowboy” at the stand and in the Embassy, presentation of contemporary Croatian poetry with Olja Savicevic, Ana Brnadric and Damir šodan and rehearsed reading of Farewell Cowboy at Tristan Bates Theatre. This one-off performance brought together the director of the original theatre adaptation, Ivica Buljan and two of Croatia’s most exemplary contemporary actors, Nataša Janjic and Marko Cindric. London Book Fair is one of the most important European and world literature fairs, and the meeting place of publishers, writers and literary agents.
