Split-Dalmatia County presentation for British tour operators and press

On the 20th March 2014 Tourist Board of the Split – Dalmatia County, in cooperation with the Embassy of Croatia in London, organised the presentation of the destination for British tour operators and press. Ambassador dr. sc. Ivan Grdešic welcomed the attendees stressing the importance of British market to the Croatian tourism which marks the increase of 26% of arrivals of British guests to Croatia last year. Ambassador also expressed our expectations of further growth and reaching of half a million UK guests this year. Director of the Split-Dalmatia Tourist Board Joško Stella presented Central Dalmatia pointing out well developed links between Split Airport and UK destinations during tourist season which include direct flights from London, Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds. In addition to natural beauty of the region, Mr Stella pointed out the curiosity that within the small distance of 35 km there are three locations that are under UNESCO’s protection ( Diocletian’s Palace, Starigrad Plain, and old city center of Trogir), while the younger generation might be specially interested in upcoming summer music festival “Ultra Europe” taking place in Split. Event was also the opportunity to thank the Split –Dalmatia tourist board for the donation of the raffle prize “Weekend in Split” for the upcoming charity spring fair in London that will see the participation of Croatian Embassy. This will be the main fair prize which will further highlight our participation, in this way having both humanitarian and promotional aspect.
