Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlic Radman 4 September 2019 met with Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok, who was on an official visit to Croatia.
The two ministers voiced satisfaction with the very good bilateral relations between Croatia and the Netherlands, underlining desire to intensify cooperation, notably in the area of economy. The Netherlands is an important trading partner and the second biggest foreign investor in Croatia. Grlic Radman and Blok discussed the possibilities of boosting investments, particularly in the maritime sector, sustainable development, innovations and transport.
Special attention was placed on the future of Europe and the present EU challenges, notably the new MFF, Brexit, security situation in the southeast, migrations and the rule of law.
The Dutch partners showed interest in Croatia’s Council of the EU chairmanship priorities, underscoring support for our emphasis on economy and security. In regard to joining the Schengen Area, Eurozone and the OECD, the Netherlands supports Croatia as it believes that countries should be valued according to their individual achievements, not get lumped into blocks our groups.
