A delegation of the šibenik - Knin County led by the Director of the šibenik – Knin Development Agency Mira Lepur, paid a four-day visit to Ireland. The visit was organized as a part of the EU Project called Technical Assistance to the šibenik – Knin County.
During their stay in Ireland the delegation held a series of meetings with their Irish counterparts and topics like EU funding for the capital and strategic projects, tourism and branding, city management, local government, foreign direct investments and protection of cultural and natural heritage were discussed at the meetings.
During their stay in Dublin the delegation met with the Minister of State for Local Government and Electoral Reform John Paul Phelan T.D., as well with the Chief Executive of the Dublin City Council Owen P Keegan, the Director of Local Government Management Agency Paul Dunne and with the Chief Archeologist at the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Michaela MacDonagha. In the four-day fact-finding trip the delegation also held meetings with the Director of Eastern and Midlands Regional Assembly Jim Conway, with the Head of the ESF in Ireland Mary McGarry, as well with the representatives of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Department of Rural and Community Development, Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency (Bord Iascaigh Mhara) and Offaly Local Development Company. During the visit discussions were also held between the šibenik - Knin County Delegation and the representatives of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sports and the representatives of the Irish National Tourism Development Authority (Fáilte Ireland), as well between the delegation and the representatives of IDA Ireland and Dublin Chamber. The delegation also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Dublin, as part of their programme of activities in Ireland.
