EU Commissioner Neven Mimica was at a one-day visit to Dublin on October 18th 2016. On this occasion he gave a lecture at the Institute for International and European Affairs on the subject of a renewed EU development policy in response to the UN"s Agenda 2030.
In his lecture, he referred to the role played by the EU at the global level and explained ways to meet the objectives of sustainable development by 2030 with aid solutions offered by development cooperation. The lecture was attended by the members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the European Commission in Ireland, Irish representatives of humanitarian organizations, academics and entrepreneurs. After the lecture, the Commissioner met with Ambassador Ivan MaĊĦina. In the afternoon before returning to Bruxelles, the Commissioner made a series of bilateral consultations with the representatives of the Irish government and the entrepreneurs who want to invest or expand their activities in developing countries.
