Project Arts Centre Gallery in Dublin will host the exhibition “Handed Over” by Croatian artist David Maljkovic and German artist Rosa Barba from 8th February until 15th March 2008.
Rosa Barba and David Maljkovic have staged the creation of a fiction, by sending back and forth between their transitory locations in Stockholm and Zagreb respectively, a series of images and texts, moving and stationary, which occur independently of the other. They pick up from and respond to what has come before, what could be anticipated for the future, or what occurs in the moment of reception.
Without a beginning or end, the fiction is suspended between two authors, two protagonists, who form a fragile relationship which is freeze-framed through the series of images. Project's gallery is the host to the 16mm results of this process, with sound by Jan St Werner, installed in a built environment conceived by Barba and Maljkovic.
Barba collaborated with Croatian artist David Maljkovic for an exhibition in Berlin in 2006, while this will be their first time to work together in Ireland.
Handed over has been supported by the Embassy of Croatia in Dublin and the Goethe Institute.
