"Croatia in Light and Colour, Postcards from Croatia 1898-1921“ An exhibition of postcards from Croatia at the turn of the centuries, from the collections of the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb, was opened today at the Erin Room of Dublin Castle.
„Croatia in Light and Colour, Postcards from Croatia 1898-1921“ An exhibition of postcards from Croatia at the turn of the centuries, from the collections of the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb, is a small carousel of postcards featuring different sides of Croatia.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by representative of diplomatic corps in Ireland, as well as the political and cultural milieu in Ireland, as well as the Croatian community. The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia Mr Veselko GrubiĊĦic emphasised that political, economic and cultural relations between Croatia and Ireland are constantly growing and expressed his hope that that this exhibition will be another step in further building the ties between the two countries.
The images of cities, monuments, baths and marinas are pristine, landscapes are enchanting with Mediterranean plants flourishing in the mild climate, and silky blue horizons are there to attract visitors. A postcard has a vitality on its own belonging to both past and present times. The exhibition contains 51 original postcards with photo enlargements. Explore the tourism as it once was in Europe and how the popular destinations like Dubrovnik (famously called the “The Pearl of the Adriatic” by George Bernard Shaw) or Split used to look like one hundred years ago.
