On this day 71 years ago, the largest Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated. To commemorate that historic day, the international community is marking the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a day when we remember and pay our respects to the victims of Nazi crimes around the world, victims who were killed simply because of their race or religion. By commemorating their suffering, we express our readiness to fight all forms of anti-Semitism, racism, discrimination and intolerance towards others solely because they are different, making sure that such atrocities never happen again.
Croatia is a member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and is actively involved in Holocaust education, research and commemoration, in order to raise awareness about the fate of the Holocaust victims.
