This year#39s Croatia Forum quotEU Integration of Western Balkans: State of Play is traditionally taking place in Dubrovnik from July 10th to 12th, 2014.
The debate will focus on the process of the European integration of the Western Balkans that still requires our full attention.
After more than one decade since the start of the last wave of EU enlargement, the countries of the region are at different stages of EU integration, ranging from member states to potential candidate countries. Although their ways are different, depending on the formal status, speed, preparedness and commitment, the goal is the same for all countries - EU membership.
Lessons from the past have taught us about the importance of institutions in this process, as well as that the active presence of the EU always brings institutional advancement. EU integration is the common denominator in the reform policies in all the countries of the region, and the key to progress is more, not less Europe.
This is why this year, the Croatia Forum is discussing the current situation and the future moves, especially on possible alternative approaches to the enlargement.
