Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco Nasser Bourita

The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Gordan Grlić Radman, met on Wednesday, 16 April 2025, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad of the Kingdom of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, who was on an official visit to the Republic of Croatia.
 
During the meeting, the Ministers confirmed the partnership between the two countries, further strengthened by the adoption of a Joint Statement. Special emphasis was placed on deepening cooperation in the areas of economy, education, culture, tourism, defence and renewable energy sources.
 
The talks covered a number of topics and encouraged the ratification of already signed agreements in order to enable their full implementation. Both sides stressed the importance of strengthening trade relations and joint initiatives in the energy sector.
 
The Ministers exchanged views on current global issues, including security challenges in the Sahel and Maghreb regions and the broader role of the European Union in promoting security and stability. They also discussed current geopolitical issues, including the situation in Ukraine, where both stressed the importance of achieving just and lasting peace.
 
Regarding the status of the Western Sahara, to be resolved within the EU-led process, Croatia considers the Moroccan Autonomy Plan of 2007, a serious effort and a good basis for achieving a just, lasting and mutually acceptable solution, in line with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
 
Speaking about the Western Balkans, the Ministers supported the sovereignty, territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the crucial importance of the equality of its three constituent peoples.
 
Minister Grlić Radman also addressed the Mediterranean, emphasizing that the recognition of the strategic importance of the Mediterranean and the appointment of Commissioner dedicated to improving relations and partnerships in the region are exceptionally significant. Grlić Radman added that Croatia will chair the MED9 group next year, focusing on key foreign policy and security challenges in the Mediterranean, including connecting the two shores of this strategically important area.
 
Both Ministers also emphasized the importance of cooperation in migration management, emphasizing that such cooperation is crucial for addressing common challenges, strengthening border security and promoting humane and sustainable solutions that stabilize the Mediterranean area.
 
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the successful parliamentary cooperation so far and emphasized the need to continue and further strengthen contacts at the parliamentary level, which would further strengthen inter-state relations.
 
This visit reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to strengthening mutual partnership and creating new opportunities for the development of relations in all areas of shared interest.
