Conference of Ambassadors, Consuls General, Consuls and Military Attachés of the Republic of Croatia – Croatian Diplomacy Facing New Global Challenges
The Conference was attended, among others, by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković, the President of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković and the host, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, along with other high-ranking officials.
In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the consistent policy of the Republic of Croatia based on multilateralism and international law, emphasizing that the task of Croatian diplomacy is to protect the interests of the Croatian people at home and abroad. He recalled the key priorities of the Government - demographic renewal, investments in education, green transition and digital transformation - and stressed that Croatia, as a member of the European Union and NATO, and soon the OECD, is strengthening its role in Europe through energy security, defense capabilities and the Mediterranean dimension.
The President of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, stressed that Croatia knows how to adapt to global challenges, despite the weakening of multilateralism and international law.
Minister Gordan Grlić Radman emphasized that this Conference served as an important guideline for Croatian representatives in the world, so that they could contribute even more strongly to the welfare of the homeland and strengthen Croatia's reputation on the international scene with their work. He emphasized that Croatian diplomacy is today strong, clearly profiled and recognized, and that its task is to build bridges, expand cooperation and strengthen the international position of the Republic of Croatia. He added that Croatian diplomacy operates in an extremely complex global environment, in which it is necessary to firmly represent national interests, but also to actively contribute to stability and peace.
High-ranking international guests also gave speeches at the Conference. Federal Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany Johann Wadephul presented his country's views on European security, transatlantic cooperation and global stability and emphasized Croatia's important partnership role in the European Union and NATO, especially in Southeast Europe. Former Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern shared his experiences from peace processes and discussed the role of diplomacy in overcoming contemporary crises. Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Varsen Aghabekian gave a lecture on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and on the challenges and prospects for a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
