In Fier, Tirana and Shkodra, on 9, 10 and 12 April 2026, the play “The Doll” by Miro Gavran, one of the most translated and performed contemporary Croatian playwrights, was staged.
The performances took place at the “Bylis” Theatre in Fier, the “Metropol” Theatre in Tirana and the “Migjeni” Theatre in Shkodra, in an adaptation and directed by Naser Shatrolli, and produced by the Albanian Theatre Society in Croatia “Mërgimtari”. The leading roles were performed by Leonard Hamitaj and Qëndresa Jashari.
The performances were supported financially by the Council for National Minorities of the Republic of Croatia.
The play “The Doll” explores contemporary relationships and the question of authenticity in human connections, examining the boundaries between real and idealised images of partnership in today’s society.
The staging of Gavran’s work in Albania once again confirms the presence of Croatian literature and theatre in the international cultural space, as well as the importance of cooperation with the Albanian community and cultural institutions.
The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Albania welcomes such initiatives that contribute to strengthening cultural ties and mutual understanding between the two countries.
