The Zagreb Guitar Quartet performed their final concert on January 20, 2007 in Toronto, marking the fifteenth anniversary of the international recognition of the Republic of Croatia. The concert was held at the ‘Church of the Redeemer'. The quartet performed for an audience of 350 spectators. Among the various guests were representatives from Canadian cultural institutions, foreign Consulates General, professors and students from the University of Toronto, and from the Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as many members of the Croatian Community in Toronto and Mississauga...

The Zagreb Guitar Quartet performed their final concert on January 20, 2007 in Toronto, marking the fifteenth anniversary of the international recognition of the Republic of Croatia. The concert was held at the ‘Church of the Redeemer'. The quartet performed for an audience of 350 spectators. Among the various guests were representatives from Canadian cultural institutions, foreign Consulates General, professors and students from the University of Toronto, and from the Royal Conservatory of Music, as well as many members of the Croatian Community in Toronto and Mississauga. The Ambassador of Croatia, Vesela Mrden Korac, addressed the public with a few words fitting the occasion. The Ambassador mentioned that Canada was among the first countries to recognize the Republic of Croatia and emphasized that after only a brief 15 years of independence, Croatia is prepared for membership in the European Union and NATO. The Ambassador thanked the Croatian community for their consistent support of their homeland. The Zagreb Quartet delighted the public by performing selections from the works of world classics such as J.S. Bach, and J. Turina); Croatian contemporary composers such as T. Uhlik, M. Miletic and A. Markovic; and Canadian composer of jazz classic, O. Peterson. The Quartet also played a set of traditional Jewish songs. The artistic program and professional performance excited the audience who expressed their appreciation of the young artists with great applause. The Canadian tour is jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affaires and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia, Ministry of Culture of The Republic of Croatia, the Croatian Embassy in Ottawa and the Croatian General Consulate in Mississauga.
