The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to Canada has marked the entry of Croatia to the European Union at the ceremony held at the Delegation of the EU to Canada and by officially raising the European flag in front of the Croatian Embassy in Ottawa on 3 July 2013.

The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to Canada has marked the entry of Croatia to the European Union at the ceremony held at the Delegation of the EU to Canada and by officially raising the European flag in front of the Croatian Embassy in Ottawa on 3 July 2013.
At the ceremony held in presence of all EU ambassadors and chargé d'affaires accredited to Ottawa, Ambassador Grubišic and the head of the EU Delegation to Canada, Ambassador Brinkmann, have officially placed the Croatian flag at the entrance of the EU premises in Ottawa. In his speech Ambassador Grubišic has emphasized the historical importance of the Croatia's entry into the EU, as one of the most important foreign policy achievements in its modern history which brings Croatia back into the European mainstream, where it belongs.
On the same day, another ceremony was held in front of the Croatian Embassy, officially raising the EU flag on the flag pole which was build specifically for this occasion using the funds donated by the Croatian community in Canada. The ceremony was attended by the representatives of all EU member states accredited to Ottawa and by Honorable Senator Raynell Andreychuk, Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, invited as a guest of honour to the monthly luncheon of the EU heads of missions which was co-hosted at the Croatian Embassy by Croatia and Lithuania, marking both the Croatia's entry into the EU and the beginning of the Lithuanian EU presidency.
