Croatian Products at FOODEX – the Largest Food and Beverage Fair in Asia

The 44th International Food and Beverage Exhibition Foodex, the largest trade show in this industry in Asia is taking place in Tokyo from 5 to 8 March 2019, at the Makuhari Messe Convention Centre. Exhibitors from 95 countries are taking part and 85.000 business visitors are expected to attend. This year’s FOODEX features a European Union (EU) Pavilion exhibiting products from all EU member states. The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to Japan, in cooperation with representatives of the European Commission (EC) from Brussels and the EU Delegation in Tokyo, provided around twenty products from Croatia for exhibiting at the EU Pavilion. Among those products were wines Dingac, Plavac Mali, Bogdanuša, Graševina, Merlot, Malvazija and Teran, beer, extra virgin olive oil, confectionery products, Maraschino liqueur, truffle products, fruit jams and fleur de sel. Among many products exhibited at the EU pavilion are also products from Croatian company Adria, which has its own booth at Foodex, presenting wide assortment of its products: wines, olive oil, truffle products, and confectioneries. At the opening ceremony the EU Pavilion was inaugurated by Hiromihi Matsushima, Vice-Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture of Japan, Jerzy Plewa, Director-General at the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission and Patricia Flor, Ambassador of the EU to Japan, in presence of many ambassadors of EU member states. As part of the EU Pavilion, top chefs are presenting European cuisine and products for business visitors and media.
