Celebration of the Croatian Statehood Day

On 19 June 2017 around 70 Japanese state officials, businessmen, foreign diplomats and friends of Croatia gathered at a reception at the Croatian Embassy on the occasion of the Croatian Statehood Day. In his welcome speech Ambassador Hrastic presented the importance that Statehood Day has had for the development of modern Croatia, which today shares with Japan and other likeminded countries values of parliamentary democracy, free market and the rule of law. Ambassador Hrastic also presented in brief recent positive economic developments in Croatia and called for an increase in commercial and tourist exchange between the two countries. State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and Secretary-General of the Japan-Croatia Parliamentary Friendship League H.E. Nobuo Kishi in his congratulatory address emphasized the friendship between Japan and Croatia and he stated his belief that excellent relations between the two countries will continue to develop even further. Pointing out the positive examples of the Croatian tuna export to Japan and the large number of Japanese tourists visiting Croatia, Minister Kishi expressed his hope that the economic cooperation will increase in the future in the best interest of both countries. At the reception the guest had the opportunity to try a variety of authentic Croatian dishes and enjoy a selection of premium quality Croatian wines that are available on the Japanese market, and of course to learn more about Croatia as a tourist destination.
