As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Croatia and Japan, a concert by pianist Yoko Nishii was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Tokyo on Sunday, March 5, 2023. The event was graced by the presence of Her Imperial Highness Princess Tsuguko of Takamado and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and other institutions as well as cities and companies connected to Croatia. Commemorative speeches were given by Ambassador Hrastić and Mr. Masashi Nakagome, Assistant Minister and Director General of the Directorate for Europe of the MFA-Japan. The concert and reception were held exactly on the date when diplomatic relations between the two countries were established 30 years ago and when the famous Croatian composer Dora Pejačević passed away 100 years ago.
Pianist Yoko Nishii had a superb performance of works by Dora Pejačević, Japanese composer Kosaku Yamada and Sergei Rachmaninov. Pianist Nishii was the first musician to record the complete piano works by Dora Pejačević, and so far, she has performed more than 50 soloistic concerts in all parts of Croatia.
