Protocol on the export of Croatian tuna to China signed during the 2025 China-CEEC Ningbo Expo
State Secretary Majdak confirmed that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Republic of Croatia has intensified cooperation with the GACC in the last ten years with the aim of encouraging Croatian producers and companies to find more business opportunities in China, especially in the field of food and agricultural products. He confirmed that Croatia has been negotiating to finalize the harmonization of veterinary and health requirements for the export of beef, poultry and pork meat, and meat products, to China. He stressed that Croatia gives great importance to the implementation of sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SPS) in order to ensure safe and high-quality food in these rapidly changing climate conditions.
State Secretary Majdak and Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the People's Republic of China Dario Mihelin met with Vice Minister of the GACC Zhao Zenglian to discuss further steps to accelerate the procedure for the export of animal products from Croatia to China. Additionally, the Protocol on Inspection, Quarantine and Sanitary Requirements for Aquaculture Products to be exported from the Republic of Croatia to the People’s Republic of China has been signed. This shall enable the export of bluefin tuna from Croatia to China and open a new market for Croatian tuna producers.
Sixteen Croatian companies participated at the Exhibition Booth dedicated to Croatia at this year's Ningbo Expo and in addition to their products and services, Chinese consumers were able to buy the Adriatic Queen canned fish products of Sardina d.o.o. company, as well as several Konzum’s K Plus products. Croatian companies attending the Expo were given the special opportunity to present themselves to the Chinese business and media representatives as well.
Croatian representatives participated also in the sports and tourism promotional events between China and the CEE countries. Croatian sailing team participated in the international regatta in Xiangshan close to Ningbo, where an agreement on sister cooperation between Marina Punat Krk and Ningbo Xiangshan Asian Sailing Centre has been signed.
