On 26 February 2009 Croatian Ambassador to China Professor Ante Simonić paid a visit to China Radio International (CRI) and took part in the CRI's first ever broadcast in Croatian language. This visit marked the launch of the two-hour daily broadcasting in Croatian.

On 26 February 2009 Croatian Ambassador to China Professor Ante Simonić paid a visit to China Radio International (CRI) and took part in the CRI's first ever broadcast in Croatian language. This visit marked the launch of the two-hour daily broadcasting in Croatian.
In answering the questions posed by the CRI's host and listeners, Ambassador SImonić used the opportunity to introduce Croatia to the Chinese public. He emphasized the traditionally good relations between the Chinese and Croatian people as the foundation for a more comprehensive cooperation. In particular he drew attention to the many advantages of Croatia as an attractive tourist destination.
Ambassador also met with the CRI's Deputy General Editor Mr. Ma Weigong and the Director of the Department for Russia and East Europe Mr. Lin Shaowen. In thanking the host for a significant contribution towards enhancement of bilateral relations between the Republic of Croatia and the PR of China, Ambassador Simonić congratulated them on the achievements of the Department for Croatian language. CRI has been maintaining a Croatian language home page for year now (http://croatian.cri.cn). This medium serves as a window into daily events in China, providing useful knowledge and information about Chinese history, tradition, culture and philosophy, as well as about Croatia.
The CRI leadership thanked the Croatian Ambassador in Beijing on the assistance in the formation and start-up of the Croatian Language Section, including on the potential Croatian language specialists and information on obtaining the radio frequency slot in Croatia. CRI plans to begin broadcasting in Chinese to audiences in Croatia as soon as the broadcast frequency and permit are obtained.
