Delegation of the Croatian - Chinese Friendship Society in China

The delegation of 21 members of Croatian – Chinese friendship society, invited by Chinese People's Friendship Society with foreign countries, has visited China this May.

The delegation of 21 members of Croatian – Chinese friendship society, invited by Chinese People's Friendship Society with foreign countries, has visited China this May.

The trip was organized by the Coordination of Croatian Friendship society, headed by Mr. Andrija Karafilipović. Although this kind of trip is already a tradition as it is organized every two years, the visit to China this year has had a special importance. The main reason for this trip was the celebration of the signing of the Charter of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Croatia 20 years ago.

The delegation visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Xi'an West Lake and the second largest Chinese island of Chongming. Also, the delegation was officially received in the Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the Central Committee.

The visits included China Radio International and the Croatian Embassy in Beijing.

The delegation was led by Mr. Andrija Karafilipović, secretary-general of the Coordination of Croatian Friendship societies and President of the Croatian - Chinese Friendship Society. Amongst the others some of the distinguished members of the delegation were: Mr.. Mato Arlovic, judge of the Croatian Supreme Court, Mr. Vjeran Radelić, Deputy Mayor of Varazdin, Ms. Natalia Martinovic, MP, Jadranka Huljev, senior adviser at the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, Mr.. Marinko Mikulic, entrepreneur, Mr.. Anton Žgombić, dentist.

The main purpose of these trips is the strengthening of friendly ties throughout a series of official talks on culture, education, economy and tourism.

During the visit the delegation were accompanied by Mr. Ante Simonić, Croatian Ambassador in China. The trip was another contribution to the strengthening of the friendship between Croatia and China.
