Croatia marked its Statehood Day in Beijing with “Sounds of Croatian Traditions” concert and “Special Moments of Beautiful Croatia” exhibition
On that occasion, addressing friends, partners and associates, from the state institutions of the People’s Republic of China, diplomatic community, business, art and media community, and in particular, Croatians living in China, Croatian Ambassador Dario Mihelin emphasized that on 30 May, Croatia is celebrating its Statehood Day, marking the constituent session of the modern multi-party Croatian Parliament in 1990, that later that year adopted Croatia’s Constitution and, after the independence referendum held in May 1991, all the subsequent decisions on Croatia’s statehood and regained independence. This year, Croatians around the world will commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the coronation of King Tomislav, the nation's first king, recognized by the Pope John X, which is believed to have taken place in 925. Furthermore, 30 years ago this coming August, in a true summer Storm operation, Croatia liberated its central territories and started the process of peaceful reintegration of the remainder, enabling Croatia’s path to its present position in the international community. Ambassador stressed how cherished Croatian-Chinese friendship and cooperation is, on this occasion, too. Ambassador Mihelin concluded his address to the guests by quoting the first Croatian president Franjo Tuđman at the Knin fortress in 1995: " Let live eternally, our only Croatia!!"
Tihomir Hojsak (bass) and Filip Novosel (tambura) founded their duo in 2016, combining classical education with elements of pop and ethno music to create a unique and cohesive sound. The duo has performed all over the world, and are known for their energetic performances and fusion of traditional Croatian music with modern sound, which they successfully presented in Beijing, having traveled with their compositions to different parts of Croatia, from Dubrovnik to Slavonia. The guests accompanied their concert with ovations, while the performance of the composition "Moja domovina" caused a special emotion, so the gathered members of the community sang along.
Nino Marcutti's photographs in the Beijing environment were especially delightful with their authenticity and color. The author is a professional photographer from Zagreb whose main area of interest is photographing exteriors such as nature and urban ensembles, where the author cultivates a studious approach, careful selection of place, time and moment.
