Ambassador Mihelin visited the Croatian team at the World Football Cup of the International School Sports Federation (ISF)

Dalian, 22 May 2024 -The Croatian team organized by the Croatian School Sports Federation (HŠSS), participated in the International School Sport Federation (ISF) World Cup, which took place in Dalian, in the period 17-27 May 2024. The team consisted of 27 members, of which 18 were young footballers between the ages of 16 and 18, from the north of Croatia (Varaždin and its surroundings), five members of the professional staff, led by coach Miljenko Mumlek, and the leadership of HŠSS, led by President Zlatko Kraljević, Secretary - General Dr. sc. Ivan Dujić and the Head of the Department for international cooperation Tomislav Paripović.
 
Croatian young footballers won fifth place, among 32 (men's) teams (together with women's teams, there were more than fifty teams from thirty countries around the world). HŠSS signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Chinese School Sports Federation, with the aim of further developing the existing cooperation between the two national federations (more on the link https://skolski-sport.hr/2024/05/27/kineska-skolska-sportska-federacija-i -hsss-signed-an-agreement-on-cooperation-with-the-goal-of-improving-international-school-sports/).
 
During the cup, on the occasion of the International Night when the participants were introduced (in the Croatian HTZ promotional video in which prominent Croatian athletes and artists participate), the Croatian team was visited on May 22, 2024 by Ambassador Mihelin, who also met with the leadership of the ISF and competent officials of the host city, and made a series of statements to the local media.
 
During his stay in Dalian, Ambassador Mihelin also met with the head of the Foreign Affairs Office, Cheng Yingjun, and discussed the cooperation between this Chinese port city in Liaoning province and Rijeka, bearing in mind the Chinese side's desire to reinvigorate cooperation and exchange visits in the post-pandemic period.
