The first Europol"s liaison office in the Western Balkans was opened on 11 July 2019 in Tirana. Appointed liaison officer is Alen Perusic from the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia. Office in Tirana is the first of three planned liaison offices in the Western Balkans and the other two will be opened in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Albania Sander Lleshaj, General Director of the Albanian State Police Ardi Veliu, EU Ambassador to Albania Luigi Soreca, Europol Executive Director Catherine De Bolle, liaison officers of partner countries, high guests and diplomatic representatives.
