At the Seminar on Plastic Waste Recycling in Albania held in Tirana on 3 March 2016, organised by UNEP, UNIDO and ECAT (Environmental Centre for Administration
and Technology), an outstanding presentation was delivered by Ms Maja Rujnic-Sokele from the Zagreb Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture on plastic waste management and recycling in Croatia, focusing on specific methods and means of dealing with plastic waste in Croatia, the Croatian relevant experiences and examples of successful waste management (Cakovec, Ponikve), elaborating them additionally in the ensuing panel discussion.
Successful participation of Ms Rujnic-Sokele in this Seminar presents a continuation of contacts between Croatia and Albania in the field of environment protection established earlier on by Ambassador Sanja Bujas-Juraga with the Ministry of Environment.
For further development of ecological and related economic cooperation there is big potential but also mutual desire, particularly so with respect to joint care for flora and fauna of the Adriatic Sea that is connecting the two countries and that both countries attach great importance to.
