Signing of MoU on the Establishment of a Croatian Language Lectorate at Istanbul University

On November 13, 2022, the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, Dr. Radovan Fuchs, and the Rector of Istanbul University, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Zagreb between the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia and Istanbul University regarding the opening of the first lectorate for the Croatian language and literature in Türkiye. We are proud that the Croatian language will soon be studied at the oldest Turkish university, and we hope that the establishment of the lectorate will contribute to strengthening the mutual relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, the Rector of Istanbul University, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, visited the Rector of the University of Zagreb, Prof. Dr. Stjepan Lakušić. The interlocutors expressed hope for strengthening cooperation in all scientific fields, as well as the development and promotion of student exchanges. Additionally, the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Domagoj Tončinić, met with the Rector of Istanbul University, who also visited the Department of Turkology at the Faculty of Philosophy. Discussions were held on the progress of scientific collaboration.

Furthermore, the Rector of the University of Dubrovnik, Prof. Dr. Nikša Burum, and the Rector of Istanbul University, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, signed a MoU, which will include the exchange of students at all levels of study and collaboration in scientific and educational aspects.
