On Friday, January 17, 2025, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman participated in a Ukraine-Southeast Europe ministerial meeting held in Kyiv. Alongside his counterparts from Southeast European countries, he held a series of meetings with Ukrainian leaders and top officials to discuss continued support for Ukraine, the country’s reconstruction, and solutions for establishing peace. On this occasion, the ministers once again expressed strong support for Ukraine and solidarity with its citizens.

Croatia reaffirmed its support for Ukraine by signing an agreement with UNHCR worth 2 million euros. The aid is aimed at assisting the most vulnerable during the upcoming winter season, including the provision of heating equipment, repairs to damaged homes, and emergency shelters. During the signing ceremony, Grlić Radman emphasized that this initiative aligns with the priorities of the Ukrainian government focused on recovery and reconstruction.

In discussions, Grlić Radman highlighted that the ministers gathered in Kyiv to reaffirm their steadfast support for Ukraine and its people. He expressed satisfaction with this meeting, held in a new ministerial format connecting Ukraine with Southeast Europe, following the Southeast Europe-Ukraine summit held in Dubrovnik last October.

He noted that while Southeast European countries share a common neighbourhood, their statuses differ regarding EU and NATO membership. Nevertheless, he underscored that these nations are united by shared European values of freedom and democracy. He stated that all the countries stand together in defending Ukraine’s right to choose its own path, just as Southeast European countries have done.

During his visit to Kyiv, Grlić Radman also met with members of the Croatian community currently living and residing in Ukraine.
