Inaugural visit of the new Special Representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for China-CEE Cooperation
Special Representative Chen thanked Ambassador Mihelin for his efforts and engagement in advancing Croatian-Chinese bilateral relations. He emphasised that China considers Croatia one of the most reliable partners in the EU and an important friend among the CEE countries, stating that Croatia is among the countries that, together with China, have actively promoted the development of China-CEE Cooperation and that Croatia remains an active participant and promoter of this cooperation.
Ambassador Mihelin congratulated Special Representative Chen on assuming his duties, wishing him much success in his performance, and confirmed the interest of the Republic of Croatia in continuing cooperation within the framework of the China-CEE Cooperation mechanism, emphasising that Croatia will certainly participate in the upcoming activities within China-CEE Cooperation during 2026.
During the meeting, Ambassador Mihelin and Special Representative Chen also discussed possibilities for further enhancing cooperation between Croatia and China, particularly in strengthening people-to-people exchanges and establishing a direct flight, as well as increasing exports to the Chinese market, especially of exceptionally high-quality Croatian agricultural products, thus focusing on the intended feature of this mechanism, providing greater economic opportunities for doing business in China and increasing exports to the Chinese market, as a valuable complement to the fundamental tracks of bilateral relations between Croatia and China and EU-China relations.
