Croatian Language Speaking Competition at the Hankuk University for Foreign Studies

On Friday, 31 October 2025, the Department of South Slavic Studies of the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies organised the Croatian Language Speaking Competition. Under the mentorship of the visiting Professor Sanja Zubčić, fourteen Croatian language students prepared speeches up to five minutes long on the topics of the Croatian nature, society or tourism, which they then gave in front of the audience. The expert jury consisted of the Department Professors and native speakers of Croatian.
The first place was awarded to Kim So-yul and her topic of “Hopes for the Future”, the second place to Kim Gyu-min and his speech on the “Culture of Dog Ownership in Croatia and Korea”, and the third to Kim Do-yeon and her account of “Travels across Croatia”. The prizes for the three winners were handed by Prof. Kim Sang-hun, Head of the Department of South Slavic Studies, and Mr Marko Zoričić, representative of the Embassy of Croatia.
