The 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the European Union and the People's Republic of China was celebrated at the premises of the Delegation of the European Union on 6 May 2025. The celebration was attended by diplomatic representatives and numerous visitors, with the total turn-out of more than a thousand and a half guests. Member of the CPC Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Hua Chunying was a special guest at the celebration, as well as Charles Michel, until recently President of the European Council, who was visiting the People's Republic of China at that time.

On that occasion, the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia presented the Adriatic Queen fish delicacies of the island of Brač company Sardina d.o.o., which are increasingly noticeable on the Chinese market. Croatian Tourist Board facilitated acquiring promotional souvenirs, namely luggage tags with licitar hearts, that were distributed to visitors at the Croatian stand, where they could get information about the Croatian tourist offer. In an interview with Chinese social media, Ambassador Mihelin presented the history of relations between Croatia and China, key cooperation projects such as the Pelješac Bridge, as well as interesting facts about Croatia, and stories about the licitar hearts or the walls of Ston, the second longest in the world, after the Great Wall.

This year, Croatia stood out in particular in the contribution to the cultural program of the celebration, where the unique and exceptionally energetic performance of cellist Ana Rucner, along with the screening of attractive videos featuring the beauties of Croatia, attracted great interest and caused enthusiasm among those present. On the occasion of the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the EU and the People's Republic of China, the Croatian cellist, increasingly recognized among the Chinese audience, also participated in a gala concert of artists from a wide range of EU member states, playing Ode to Joy in front of about five hundred guests in the full hall of the Dahua Theater and singing the famous Chinese song, The Moon Represents My Heart, on Europe Day itself, 9 May 2025, which gained an exceptionally warm response from the audience.
