Based on a project and funding organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia for 2025, in September the Embassy hosted the Split Mandolin Quartet. The Embassy organised for them two concerts: on 28 September in Sokcho in cooperation with the Pinodia Museum, and on 30 September in Seocho-gu, the elite quarter of Seoul, in cooperation with the Seocho Cultural Foundation. Both concerts were announced weeks before through a comprehensive online and offline media campaign. The Split Mandolin Quartet played a programme of mostly Croatian composers throughout the past few centuries. Encouraged by a particularly long applause at the end, for the encore they played their own interpretation of the beloved Korean folk song “Arirang”. During their stay in Seoul, the members of the Quartet had an excellent cooperation with Mr Kim Byung-gyu, President of the Korean Mandolin Association, which has over 3.000 members.
