​Albanian Prime Minister Thanks Croatia for Assistance in Fighting Wildfires

On Thursday, 27 August 2025, staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Tirana, Ms. Vanja Popović and Mr. Vanja Gavran, attended the official ceremony of awarding recognitions to members of the Albanian Civil Protection who distinguished themselves in combating the wildfires that ravaged Albania this summer.

The awards were personally presented by the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama. In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Rama expressed his gratitude for the international assistance in extinguishing the devastating wildfires in southern Albania, particularly highlighting Croatia, which deployed a Canadair aircraft with a three-member crew to Albania for four days. He also thanked other EU member states (Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Sweden) that responded with various resources to Albania’s call for help through the ERCC (Emergency Response Coordination Centre).
